THE 3RD WINTER YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES (YOG) GOT UNDERWAY WITH A SPARKLING OPENING CEREMONY AT THE VAUDOISE ARENA ON 9 JANUARY THAT WAS FULL OF SURPRISES, AS 8,000 SPECTATORS ENJOYED SEVEN STORIES EMPHASISING THE OLYMPIC SPIRIT AND THE THEME OF “HOME”, ALL PERFORMED IN SPECTACULAR STYLE BY LOCAL YOUNG PEOPLE.

Abigail Vieira is the first ever athlete from Trinidad & Tobago to participate at a Youth Olympic Games, and the first Alpine Skier from TTO to participate at any Olympic event. Abigail’s Team staff includes her Father Richard Vieira as Chef de Mission, her sister Ria Vieira as assistant coach, and her mother Alison as support staff. Her coach is Lori Ford. She is supported by team staff Mirella Arnhold, Ex-Alpine Skier and first ever Olympian in that discipline for Brazil. The team is completed by Nick Lau, a Nordic skier for Trinidad & Tobago and secretary general of the Trinidad & Tobago Snowsports Federation.

Port of Spain, September 27. Team Trinidad and Tobago (Team TTO) will be represented by thirteen (13) athletes at the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 6 – 18 October 2018. The Trinidad and Tobago team includes 3 male and 10 female athletes who will participate in Athletics, Futsal and Swimming.

The Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (BAYOGOC) held a ceremony to unveil the Youth Olympic Village’s cornerstone on 6 May. The event marked the start of the construction of the Youth Olympic Village, which will be home for more than 3,800 athletes in October 2018, when the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) will be held in Buenos Aires.
